Martin Gaffey, Australia
Deputy Captain Martin Gaffey of Australia passed away on 26 April 2024. Martin held many roles and positions in his 20+ years of service within the NSW Rural Fire Service, including leading the Bay and Basin region through the 2019-2020 Black Summers as Group 3 Captain. He was a strong advocate for and heavily involved in mentoring and training within the Shoalhaven, from new members completing their bush firefighter qualification all the way through to developing new crew leaders.
